Waypoint Goes Inland: First Coverage on the Texas Lakes

All stories

For the first time, Waypoint covers water you cannot sail to the ocean from: Conroe, Travis, LBJ, Canyon, and the DFW lakes are now on the map.

Every listing Waypoint published before this month had one thing in common: salt. This week that changes. Our newest wave includes the network's first inland coverage, on the Texas lakes, with pros on Lake Conroe, Lake Travis, Lake LBJ, Canyon Lake, and the lakes around Dallas-Fort Worth.

Why inland, and why Texas

Lake boaters have always been underserved by marine directories built for the coasts, and Texas makes the case better than anywhere. The state now holds 54 Waypoint listings, split between the Gulf Coast and this new inland tier, and the lake side of that ledger covers some of the busiest recreational water in the country: Conroe north of Houston, Travis and LBJ in the Hill Country, Canyon between Austin and San Antonio, and the DFW chain.

Who is in the launch batch

The first inland listings lean toward the marinas and service centers that lake boating runs on. On Lake Travis, Lakeway Marina has operated since the 1960s with slips, service, and non-ethanol fuel. On Lake Lewisville, about 30 minutes north of Dallas, Eagle Point Marina runs roughly 700 slips with dry storage and a marine service center. Cranes Mill Marina covers the west side of Canyon Lake with slips, winterization, and service, Stow-A-Way Marina holds down Lake Conroe in Willis, and Horseshoe Bay Resort Marina sits on constant level Lake LBJ with a charter and rental fleet.

Same bar, fresh water

Inland listings go through the identical process as coastal ones: every business researched against its own live website, then re-checked by adversarial audit passes before publishing. In this wave, 121 businesses were researched, 10 were cut, and 11 were corrected before anything went live. The Verified badge still means the owner claimed and confirmed the profile.
