Waypoint Arrives on the Chesapeake: 40 Pros From Annapolis to Norfolk
This month Waypoint went live in Maryland and Virginia with 40 listings spanning the Bay, timed for the busiest booking window of the Chesapeake year: haul-out season.
Waypoint is live on the Chesapeake. This month we published our first Maryland and Virginia listings, 22 pros in Maryland and 18 in Virginia, running from Baltimore and Annapolis down the Western Shore, across to Oxford, St. Michaels, and Rock Hall, through Solomons and Deltaville, and into Hampton Roads.
The timing is not an accident
Mid-October on the Bay is haul-out season. Between now and Thanksgiving, most Chesapeake boats come out of the water or get winterized in their slips, and every yard, mobile mechanic, and shrink wrap crew from Middle River to Norfolk books up at once. The launch batch covers the work the season demands: yards with lifts, mobile engine service, divers, canvas shops, electronics installers, air conditioning techs, surveyors, and training schools. The order of operations matters too. The lift schedule drives everything else, so lock the haul-out date first, then hang the winterization, the shrink wrap, and any yard work off it.
Some history in the batch
The Chesapeake wave carries some of the oldest names on Waypoint. Hartge Yacht Yard in Galesville has served the yachting community since 1865. Higgins Yacht Yard in St. Michaels sits on a site that, per the yard's own website, has serviced boats since 1790. Down the Bay, Norton Yachts has worked out of Deltaville since 1948 and runs a second location in Norfolk, and Washburn's Boat Yard in Solomons operates two 75 metric ton travelifts for repowers, paint, and systems work.
Same rules as everywhere
Every Chesapeake listing went through the same process as the rest of the network: researched against the business's own live website, then re-checked by adversarial audit passes before publishing. The Verified badge means the owner claimed the profile and confirmed the details with our team, and Verified businesses rank first.
Where to start
If the boat is still in the water and the calendar says October, start now. Browse mechanical and yard pros around Annapolis or Hampton Roads, or skip the phone hunt and post the job at In Search Of so matching pros come to you. The Bay has some of the deepest boatyard tradition in America. Now it is on the map.
