Tesoro T50 Sport Walkthrough: The Luxury Day Yacht With Outboard Nerve
An exclusive look at the Tesoro T50 Sport, the Spanish-flavored luxury day yacht that pairs Mediterranean styling with up to three Mercury V-12 outboards.
Most day yachts make you choose: Mediterranean style with inboard manners, or outboard speed with center console looks. Tesoro built the T50 to refuse the choice. The brand positions its whole range as luxury day yachts, boats meant for a full day of hosting, swimming, and running between anchorages, and the T50 Sport is the version that does it with outboards on the transom. Our camera got an exclusive look aboard, and the walkthrough shows why this boat keeps turning up where the beautiful boats gather.
The Sport part of the name
Tesoro lists the T50 Sport with a 14.85 meter deck, a 4.65 meter beam, and a GRP hull topped by a carbon fiber T-top. Power starts with a Mercury Verado 600 horsepower V-12 and climbs to three of them for 1,800 total horsepower, which Tesoro says is good for a 47 knot top end. A 2,400 liter fuel tank backs that up, so the speed is usable rather than ornamental. Watch how the boat carries its weight in the walkthrough. This is a substantial hull, and the outboards give it the kind of throttle response that inboard day yachts of this size simply do not have.
The luxury part
The rest of the boat is where Tesoro earns the day yacht label. The deck flows from a social cockpit to broad sunpads with the kind of upholstery and joinery detail you expect from the Italian yards it clearly studied. Below, the T50 hides real overnight accommodations for a couple who decide the day should not end. Tesoro also offers Speciale versions of the T50 with interiors and exteriors done in collaboration with Armani/Casa, which tells you exactly what league the builder is aiming for. The walkthrough lingers on the materials because they deserve it.
Who this boat fits
The T50 Sport is for the owner who hosts ten people on Saturday, wants to run to lunch at 40 knots, and refuses to look like everyone else at the sandbar. It competes with big center consoles on performance and with Mediterranean day boats on style, and in person it makes both camps a little nervous. If your boating is sun, speed, and company, this is a short list boat.
