The All-New Pardo 43R: Italy's Walkaround Goes Outboard

All stories

A first look at the Pardo 43R, the Italian builder's new outboard walkaround: triple Mercurys, a 50-knot appetite, and Made in Italy finish work below deck.

Pardo Yachts built its reputation on sleek Italian inboard walkarounds, the kind of boats that look at home in Portofino and Palm Beach alike. The all-new 43R is something different for the brand: an outboard boat, designed from the keel up for it. Cantiere del Pardo did not just hang engines on an existing hull. The builder says the 43R rides a dedicated hull developed for outboard propulsion, with naval architecture by Zuccheri Yacht Design and styling by Zuccheri and Nauta Design. We walked the whole boat on camera.

The numbers behind the look

Pardo lists the 43R at 14.93 meters overall, just under 49 feet, with a 4.2-meter beam and roughly 2,500 liters of fuel. Standard power is a trio of Mercury Verado 400 V10 outboards, with triple Verado 600 V12s on the options list, and Pardo says the boat is capable of pushing beyond 50 knots. That is proper sport boat speed wrapped in the brand's signature reverse bow and clean, low profile.

The deck is where Pardo's experience shows. The walkaround is a true single level from bow to stern, with wide side decks, integrated handrails, and an aft table that drops to form a second sunpad. A carbon fiber T-top integrates into the windshield, and below deck Pardo fits two cabins and a bathroom in the standard layout, with large hull windows keeping it bright.

Why outboards change the equation

Going outboard frees the space an inboard engine room would eat, which is how a 43-footer ends up with this much interior volume. It also means simpler service, shallower running when the engines trim up, and easy repowering years from now. For American buyers especially, triple Mercurys on an Italian walkaround is a familiar formula in an unfamiliar, far more tailored suit.

Who the 43R fits

This is a day boat first: owners who run to lunch, anchor out, swim, and entertain eight or ten friends in comfort, then occasionally overnight as a couple or with kids aboard. It will appeal to buyers stepping up from production center consoles who want finish quality and design pedigree without giving up outboard convenience or speed. In the video you can see the detail work up close, from the deck hardware to the cabin joinery, and judge whether the premium reads as real.
