Pershing 8X — Luxury and Performance Intertwined

August 22, 2024

The Pershing 8X

Pershing 8X

Luxury and performance have long been seen as opposite ends of the spectrum in yacht design—until the arrival of the Pershing 8X.

Crafted by Pershing Yachts, known for their high-speed and elegantly designed vessels, the 8X is a bold statement that seamlessly merges luxury with raw power to set a new standard in yachting.

In this article, we take you on an exclusive tour of a 2023 Pershing 8X, currently listed by Overlook Marine. We’ll explore its striking exterior and opulent interiors and dive into the specifications that define this masterpiece. Lastly, we’ll wrap this article up with a video walkthrough to give you an up-close look at Overlook Marine’s listing.

Exterior

Launched during BOOT Düsseldorf 2019, the Pershing 8X was rightfully crowned by the shipyard as “The Masterpiece of the X-Generation.” One look at this yacht on the water and it’s clear why. The 8X commands attention with its striking presence, a testament to the craftsmanship that characterizes every inch of its design.

The design vision for the 8X was simple yet ambitious, to create a yacht that appears just as fast at rest as it does at full throttle. Ferretti Group‘s in-house team brought this vision to life in collaboration with renowned yacht designer Fulvio De Simoni. The sharp, aggressive lines of the hull suggest the powerful performance that lies beneath, while the sleek superstructure speaks to the refined elegance that is a hallmark of the Pershing 8X.

One of the exterior’s standout features is the carbon fiber port wing. This graceful structure sweeps out and over the walkaround, adding to the yacht’s aerodynamic profile and integrating the staircase leading to the flybridge. This design maximizes space in the 236-square-foot cockpit and sundeck, making these areas perfect for relaxation and socializing. Every element of the exterior reflects a dedication to detail, from the teak-covered, black-painted steel steps of the staircase to the expansive sunbeds.

The exterior spaces of the 8X are designed for both luxury and functionality. The aft cockpit features a generous dinette with an L-shaped sofa and a dropdown dining table that can easily convert into a shaded sunbed with fill-in cushions. Above the long bench across the dinette, the first of three expansive sunbeds is ideally positioned just above the hydraulic swim platform, which can be lowered to surface level at the push of a button, providing unmatched access to the water.

Ascending to the flybridge via the sleek staircase, you’ll find an array of soft seating arrangements, ideal for lounging in the sun. The highlight of this space is the massive aft sunbed, complete with a built-in fridge—perfect for a full day of relaxation. Moving forward, a soft bench complements three helm chairs and a full helm station, allowing you or your captain to enjoy the open air while navigating the yacht.

At the bow, there’s even more space dedicated to leisure. A large U-shaped dinette offers an inviting spot for lunch, intimate dinners, or enjoying a drink under the stars. Just ahead, the third sunbed, framed by high safety rails, provides a secure yet luxurious perch from which to take in the views.

Interior

Enter the saloon of the Pershing 8X and explore a new level of luxury. The interior perfectly marries performance with comfort, creating an inviting and equally impressive space. Through the aft cockpit’s glass doors, you are greeted by an expansive saloon characterized by generous headroom that rivals that of larger luxury yachts.

The saloon’s layout is perfect for social gatherings, featuring a spacious sectional sofa and an automatically deployed smart TV that ensures entertainment is never far away. In the specific model we toured with Overlook Marine, a galley-below layout maximizes space in the saloon, allowing a stylish bar to become the area’s focal point.

The commitment to quality is evident throughout. Italian leather lines the walls and ceilings, providing a soft, luxurious touch. Marble countertops, polished wood, and stainless steel accents further enhance the sophisticated ambiance, while the furnishings, crafted by Poltrona Frau, add yet another layer of elegance. Natural light floods the interior through expansive windows, keeping you connected with the surrounding seascape and adding to the interior’s airy feel.

The vessel we toured features a three-cabin layout, complete with a below-deck lounge, a plush sectional sofa, and another large smart TV—perfect for relaxing after a day in the sun. Down here, we find three cabins designed to comfortably accommodate up to six guests, maintaining the same luxury and style throughout the yacht.

The full-beam primary stateroom, with windows on both sides, is bathed in natural light. It features a queen-sized bed, a smart TV, a vanity station that doubles as a desk, a spacious walk-in closet, and an en-suite head with a luxurious rainfall shower.

The guest suites are equally well-appointed. One offers two single beds and a Jack-and-Jill en-suite head, which also serves as a day head. The forward VIP guest suite features a large island-style berth, ample storage, and a private en-suite head.

Performance & Specifications

The Pershing 8X inherits the groundbreaking propulsion and control systems of its predecessor, the 9X. This advanced system integrates propulsion control with maneuvering, navigation, and monitoring systems into a unified platform that enhances performance and user experience.

Developed by Ferretti’s engineering team in collaboration with industry-leading partners, this system provides yacht owners and captains with an intuitive interface that ensures seamless interaction between the engines, onboard instruments, and automation functions.

At the heart of this integration is the EasySet system, co-developed by Top System and Onyx, combined with Xenta Systems’ electro-hydraulic steer-by-wire technology. These systems are further enhanced by the Naviop-Simrad LOOP, which offers precise navigation and monitoring capabilities. All of these features are accessible through the pilot’s console, designed with large natural carbon panels and 24-inch touchscreen monitors framed in leather, adding luxury to the functionality.

The 2023 Pershing 8X, which we toured with Overlook Marine Group, is powered by twin 2638hp MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines. These powerful engines and advanced systems enable it to reach a top speed of 48 knots with remarkable ease.
